EU Launches Blockchain Observatory in Partnership with ConsenSys

“As a crucial actor in the blockchain community, ConsenSys will bring strong dedication to blockchain development, strong expertise and relations with the international blockchain ecosystem, and an entrepreneurial approach to engage with stakeholders and experts from the EU and internationally,” the EC said Thursday at a statement  showing the partnership.

ConsenSys, a global “venture manufacturing studio” that develops applications primarily for its ethereum blockchain, was set up by Joseph Lubin, whom CoinDesk profiled for its Most Influential at Blockchain 2017 series.

Singular concentrate

He praised the concept of blockchain engineering, stating “among the numerous technologies that are driving electronic invention, blockchain has the potential to be truly transformative for financial markets and services.”

Valdis Dombrovskis, an EC vice president responsible for monetary stability, financial services and also the Capital Markets Union, one of the endeavors, that has previously commented about the EU’s fascination with blockchain engineering, stated the Observatory will also direct EU policymaking.  
The announcement of the Commission emphasized its desire to encircle the blockchain for the advantage of the single European economy, also noticed that a key objective of the Observatory and Forum would be to build on existing jobs to be certain they work across boundaries.

Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel commented:
The two-year endeavor will fund around  $340 million ($425 million) from blockchain jobs.  
“I see the blockchain for a game changer and also I need Europe to be at the forefront of its development. We will need to set up the best that all taxpayers may benefit enabling environment — a Digital Single Economy for blockchain, rather than a patchwork of initiatives. The EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum is an important step in this direction.”
